B&B Theatres has successfully completed a significant remodel and upgrade of the former AMC Classic 10 Warrensburg, MO location, transforming the venue into a state-of-the-art entertainment complex. Right from the project's inception, CinemaNext USA played a pivotal role, engaging in close collaboration with B&B Development and the great folks at the project’s architect, Clockwork, during the initial planning stages.
This early involvement was instrumental in ensuring that the existing structure could be optimally adapted to accommodate B&B's new vision. This early-stage collaboration is particularly valuable for cinema clients looking to adapt to and capitalise on evolving industry dynamics, such as non-cinema activities and enhanced F&B, enabling them to future-proof their venues through comprehensive, integrated solutions.
Tailored Solutions: From Blueprint to Grand Opening
CinemaNext USA's overarching involvement in the Warrensburg project extended beyond mere equipment installation; their expertise was crucial in adapting the existing structure to meet B&B's specific needs. The approach taken was not a standardised, cookie-cutter solution, but one deeply customised to address the unique challenges and opportunities presented by the existing building. CinemaNext’s early engagement in the initial planning stages with architects and B&B Development ensured that the technological solutions were seamlessly integrated with the architectural vision, a critical factor for project success, as well as on-time delivery.
Proactive engagement enabled the identification of potential structural limitations, the optimisation of equipment placement for both performance and efficiency, and the mitigation of costly rework or unforeseen challenges that frequently emerge in later project phases. The aim was smoother project execution, reduced risks, and potentially lower overall costs for the client by minimising change orders or delays. CinemaNext's role is thus not just one of mere equipment vendor, but effectively that of a strategic consultant, trying to understand and execute the project from the perspective of B&B Theatres.
Elevating the Cinematic Experience: Key Installations
The core of the Warrensburg upgrade focused on significantly enhancing the cinematic experience, encompassing everything from advanced projection technology to superior auditorium comfort and immersive sound. The reimagined B&B Theatres Warrensburg 10 boasts ten screens (including two PLF Grand Screens) and a total seating capacity of approximately 630, with fully heated electric reclining seats in every auditorium. However, CinemaNext’s involvement also went beyond that into other aspects that are traditionally not core competencies for many cinema installation companies. There were multiple aspects and physical areas in the Warrensburg multiplex, where this came into play.
State-of-the-Art Booth Technology
The remodel included a complete overhaul of the projection booths. CinemaNext installed B&B-owned Christie projectors, as part of a flexible approach to integrating client assets while ensuring optimal performance. These projectors were seamlessly paired with GDC SR 1000 Servers. This approach of installing client-provided equipment prioritises the client's existing investments, preferred brands, and overall budget.
Beyond the main projection systems, CinemaNext supplied and installed critical booth components essential for day-to-day operations. This included robust Kneisley Pedestals for stable equipment support, precise Kelmar Dimmer Systems for controlled lighting, and new booth windows. For the audio infrastructure of the cinema experience, CinemaNext equipped the booths with powerful JBL/Crown amplifiers. These high-quality amplifiers ensure clear, dynamic, and powerful sound delivery to the auditoriums, setting the proverbial stage for an immersive audio experience.
Auditorium Comfort & Immersion
The auditoriums received significant enhancements primarily focused on maximising guest comfort and safety. This included the provision and installation of luxurious VIP recliners. Concurrently, Tempo safety lighting was installed to ensure clear egress paths and compliance with all safety standards. New frames and front-end materials, including large format screens, were installed across the auditoriums.
To achieve optimal acoustics and enhance aesthetic appeal, advanced duct-liner and drapery systems were meticulously installed in all rooms. Additionally, CinemaNext provided new auditorium wall carpet, though its installation was managed by B&B, clearly defining the project scope. Complementing the booth's powerful audio setup, CinemaNext installed high-fidelity JBL speakers in all auditoriums.
CinemaNext's focus extends beyond mere technical specifications to a comprehensive understanding of the customer journey and experience design. The integration of premium seating, large format screens, high-fidelity sound systems, and acoustic treatments aligns with B&B’s vision of crafting an environment that maximises comfort, visual impact, and auditory immersion for its audience. In addition, there is RealD 3D capabilities, and recognising the importance of accessibility, B&B Theatres has also ensured that all feature film showtimes offer Closed Captions and Descriptive Audio.
Beyond the Screen: Comprehensive Venue Enhancements
CinemaNext's involvement at B&B Theatres Warrensburg extended significantly beyond the traditional cinema auditoriums, highlighting the company's versatility and capability to provide solutions for the entire modern entertainment complex.
CinemaNext provided and installed essential concession equipment, including a high-capacity popper and butter toppers. Further enhancing convenience, a Food-to-Go service was made available in every auditorium. This allows guests to enjoy made-to-order meals and snacks from the full kitchen directly from their comfortable reclining seats during the movie. To complete the guest journey and enhance the overall first impression – other than the welcoming sound of fresh popcorn popping - CinemaNext also provided a new lobby sound system.
The involvement in concessions and the lobby areas demonstrates CinemaNext USA's highly diversified capabilities. CinemaNext’s approach simplifies project management for clients, ensures comprehensive integration across different venue areas, and positions CinemaNext as a one-stop shop for complex entertainment development projects, of which B&B is one that helps us push the envelope.
