CinemaNext France is a proud partner of the Y.S. FESTIVAL, a brand new film festival whose first edition will take place on 24, 25 and 26 September 2026. It aims to build a bridge between France and Algeria through cinema, while remaining rooted in the Cévennes region.
The festival showcases young talent from Algerian cinema, giving audiences the chance to discover their short films, which are still relatively rarely screened in France. Over three days, 23 short films will be presented, 18 in competition and 5 out of competition.
The Y.S. FESTIVAL also offers meetings and discussions with the directors, as well as professional events (talks, speed networking, pitch sessions, and more) bringing together various players from the French and Algerian film industries with the aim of sparking new collaborations. In particular, the directors of the short films being shown will be on hand to talk directly with audiences after the screenings.
This first edition therefore has both a cultural and a professional dimension, seeking to strengthen ties between the different players in the sector and to help films circulate more widely between the two countries.
